But I discovered two graves that were dug into without mechanical means, and both vaults and caskets has hole torn in them for what I assume was grave robbing ! No one from the Cem was there, so I called the next business day. The gentleman was very appreciative that I informed him. But I have not heard back if they found anything out about it. I called him back several day later and he said nothing yet was done about it because he is very short handed. I think that repair should be their highest priority. Thank you. My great grandfather and my great great aunt are buried in Viennas Zentralfriedhof cemetery. The Jewish section is not maintained and honestly looks like a horror movie could be filmed there. When you look at most of the headstones you see that their family members probably perished in the Holocaust. Two years ago I went to the cemetery with my mom. We took gardening tools and spent two full days cleaning our family members headstones. It felt so rewarding to do this. Last year when I went back I did the same thing again. I am currently studying genealogy, and once I am finished my program I plan on completing the cemetery restoration course. I want to help preserve our headstones and bring them back to life!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9091026817968807873.post-17103202196722300472014-10-17T13:50:40.638-07:002014-10-17T13:50:40.638-07:00Current Google Maps photo (dated 2014) seems to in...Current Google Maps photo (dated 2014) seems to indicate it's back to neglect. No one has been able to identify that he is even there, supposedly checked records. He is just lost to the ages. He died in 1860. He is listed in city directories as teaching Hebrew language.

Sue, Milwaukee WisconsinAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9091026817968807873.post-52126435763172067862013-05-25T16:02:32.444-07:002013-05-25T16:02:32.444-07:00Joe Hammell, just wanted you to know Harry & Ma...Joe Hammell, just wanted you to know Harry & Mary which is me are doing fine we reside here in Hershey,pa we are also on facebook my married name is Mary Seiple & Harry got married to Laura there email address is mrslaura30@ verizon.net I will friend you on facebook and give you somemore infro.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9091026817968807873.post-87882894652861524492013-05-20T15:32:04.700-07:002013-05-20T15:32:04.700-07:00Back in the 60's there was a small house there...Back in the 60's there was a small house there occupied by the Dunn Family, the father being the caretaker. We seem to not be caring enough to value our own history. Where are our area Rabbis? What heritage do we impart to our youth if we choose to forget. Is it not bad enough that millions were slaughtered less than 75 years ago? Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
